field clumps and plugs of warm season grasses will not be
available for shipping again until spring 2011, unless you
live in Zones 7 or above, in which case we can ship plugs
for a little while longer.
Zone 5 can plant Enviro-Turf and cool season grasses until
approximately late Sept.
Our large field clumps are bare-root
and the size of a gallon-sized potted
grass.
Our small field clumps are bare-root
and the size of a 4" potted
grass, however the Miscanthus have had their roots
cut to fit into the pot, so the small bare root field
clumps are actually a better deal.
Plugs are sold in multiples of 25 and are removed
from the plug tray for shipping.

Shipping Times:
Cool season bare-root grasses approximately March
through June, then again in the early Fall. Zone 5
can plant until approx. late Sept. Check with us to
be sure.
Warm season bare-root grasses approximately late
April to July only.
Plugs vary as to when available. Please inquire.
4" pots are generally ready in late May
and can be shipped anytime during the growing season
after they are ready. Some are ready earlier, so it
is worth inquiring.
We are careful to ship when it is appropriate to
plant in your area, as long as it is the right time
for us to dig them (grasses are quite picky that way).
Shipping Methods:
USPS, Priority Mail
We transport the shipment over the border, to a US
Post Office. Your order is never hung up in Customs.
Shipping Charges - Priority Mail (2-3 days):
Shipping charges are calculated on the sub-total
for plant material.
The charges below are subject to change, should new
rates be announced by USPS.

Phytosanitary Inspection Fee - $12 (required
by US Customs):
A "Phyto" is required by all/most countries when
plants cross a border. We are located in Canada and
therefore the order must be inspected by a government
inspector who verifies that no diseases or restricted
pests are being transported into the USA with the
order.
The Phyto costs the same whether you order $200's
or $30's. So the best way to make the Phyto less significant
a factor in the price is to either order more or to
include a friend's order with yours (only one Phyto
needed).
A copy of the Certificate will be sent with your
order.
Payment:
Orders must be prepaid: by check, money order
or we can also take your credit card information over
the telephone.
Guarantee:
Bluestem Nursery guarantees its plants to be true
to name. Our liability is limited to the purchase
price of the plants in question. We ship high quality
plant material.
